“I extend my full support to President Aleksandar Vučić and the institutions of Serbia in defending the constitutional order and the stability of the state!”
This was written on his X account by the President of the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, following the chaos in the Serbian Parliament, where a physical altercation and the throwing of smoke bombs occurred, injuring three people.
Dodik stated that “today we witnessed a shameful attempt to violently overthrow institutions and create chaos in the National Assembly.“
“Instead of arguments – smoke bombs, instead of politics – thuggish attacks, instead of working for the people – violence against institutions. This is not a political opposition; these are destructive groups that want to bring Serbia to its knees. Judging by the smoke bombs, the so-called colour revolution in Serbia is not in the colours of the Serbian tricolour but in the colour of the Albanian flag, and it is no secret who is behind this and who is bothered by a strong and stable Serbia,” Dodik stated.
He emphasized that state authorities have his full support to do their job thoroughly and ensure that all those who attempted to overthrow the Assembly by force today are held accountable before the law.
“While the opposition competes in destruction, we stand with the people and the legally elected institutions. To those who were injured, I wish a speedy recovery, and to those who think they can conquer Serbia with bombs, I say: Serbia is not anyone’s prey!” Dodik wrote on X.
A video surfaced on social media capturing the moment when one of the female MPs was struck in the head during the Serbian Assembly session. By all indications, the object came—or was thrown—from the seats of the ruling majority.
The latest information indicates that Jasmina Karanac, an MP from the Social Democratic Party of Serbia, was hit in the head with a bottle by Žika Gojković, an MP from the ruling Serbian Progressive Party.
