During the past 2024 year, a total of 35,854 traffic accidents occurred on the roads of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Of these, 8,007 traffic accidents involved fatalities and injuries, while 27,847 were accidents with material damage, according to the annual report from the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Automobile Club (BIHAMK) on the overall number of traffic accidents, their causes, and consequences in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In traffic accidents in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 222 people lost their lives, 1,842 sustained serious injuries, and 9,458 people suffered minor injuries.
In 2024, there were 706 more accidents compared to 2023, which represents a 2.01% increase in the total number of traffic accidents.
The number of traffic accidents with fatalities and injuries increased by 342 accidents, or 4.46%. As for traffic accidents with material damage, there were 359 more accidents compared to 2023, an increase of 1.31%.
Throughout 2024, an average of 98 traffic accidents were recorded per day across Bosnia and Herzegovina. In these accidents, an average of five people were seriously injured daily, while 26 people sustained minor injuries.
The average traffic accident fatality rate in Bosnia and Herzegovina is six fatalities per 1,000 traffic accidents.
