Breaking the Silence: Tackling Misconduct and Abuse in Montenegrin Schools

This story really got to me. You know how sometimes we hear about messed-up stuff happening, but nobody really talks about it until it blows up? Well, that`s exactly what`s happening here. A gym teacher in Montenegro was allegedly acting inappropriately towards students for years, and even though people knew about it, no one really did anything until now.

So, here`s the deal: Back in October, education officials were told that some students were experiencing violence at school. But instead of taking serious action right away, they kind of just … sat on it. Fast forward to February, and an anonymous complaint from parents finally pushed the Ministry of Education to investigate. Turns out, multiple students and parents had been complaining about this guy for years. Some said he was aggressive with students, others accused him of sexual harassment girls even reported that he would walk into their locker room while they were changing.

The craziest part? There was already a report form October showing that 13% of students said they had experienced physical violence at school, and 15% said they had faced verbal abuse from teachers. But instead of taking that as a red flag, the authorities just kind of … filed it away. It wasn`t until parents raised hell that the teacher was actually suspended. And even now, the people in charge are being super vague about when they first found out and what exactly they did about it.

This whole thing is blowing up because it’s not just about one teacher it’s about a system that’s been letting this kind of thing slide. Just recently, another case of sexual harassment in a different school made headlines, and it’s becoming clear that this isn’t some isolated incident. The bigger issue is that institutions and even cultural norms often protect teachers instead of students. But now that people are speaking up, maybe things will finally start to change.

What’s even more disturbing is that this isn’t just one isolated case it’s part of a much bigger, growing issue. More and more reports are coming out about teachers in Montenegro crossing the line, whether it’s verbal abuse, physical aggression, or even sexual harassment.

Just recently, another scandal in a different school made headlines, proving that this problem has been ignored for way too long. The worst part? Many of these cases don’t lead to real consequences because the system tends to protect teachers instead of students. Whether it’s schools brushing things under the rug or a culture that discourages victims from speaking up, the result is the same
kids are left vulnerable, and the people responsible walk away with little to no accountability. But now, as more students and parents are raising their voices, it feels like a shift is happening. Maybe this time, things won’t just get swept under the rug.
