Beach Bidding Wars: Big Money or Big Scam?

Imagine trying to rent a beach, only to find out someone just bid a million euros for it. Sounds crazy, right? Well, that`s exactly what`s happening in Montenegro. Some bidders are throwing around huge amounts of money to secure beach sports, and now officials are wondering where is all this cash coming from? Is it just aggressive business, or is something shady going on behind the scenes?

The Public Entreprise for Coastal Management (Morska Dobro) has officially asked the Financial Intelligence Sector of the Police to investigate the sources of these suspiciously high offers. They want to make sure it`s not a case of money laundering or a sneaky trick by former beach renters trying to reclaim their sports.

They`ve even called in the Special State Prosecutor (SDT) to dig deeper.

The bids of renting beaches in Bar and Ulcinj were opened yesterday, and just like in Dudva, there were crazy high offers. For example, in Petrovac, some beaches got offers of €1 million, while others went for €800,000 – €950,000.

Even though the tender process has gone smoothly so far, the company noticed some bids in Budva were way too high, which caught media attention. They`re now asking SDT to check whether these offers are real business decisions or just a scheme to mess up the tender process.

They`ll decide what to do next toghether with the Ministry and Government, making sure everything stays fair and legal.

My Take on This?

Honestly, this whole situation feels like a mix of big money, big egos, and some behind-the-scenes games. If these offers are legit, then hey, great for the state`s budget! But if it`s just another example of how far people will go to hold onto power (or a good sunbed spot). Either way, it`s gonna be interesting to see how this plays out!
