Dodik in Panic: Serbia Doesn’t Need Him, Russia Doesn’t Benefit – ‘He Could Fall Through the Window’

After taking actions to dismantle the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and facing condemnation from both the East and the West, as well as from the domestic public, Dodik found himself in a hopeless situation. He made reckless moves, counting on what he thought was a “favorable geopolitical situation” in the world. However, he misjudged his own assessments and those of his mentors, primarily Serbia and Russia, according to Nasuf Hadžiahmetović, the Vice President of the Naprijed! party.

Dodik, as Hadžiahmetović points out, was particularly struck by the disobedience of the opposition in the entity of Republika Srpska, as well as the majority of its citizens, who acted reasonably, realistically, and with full responsibility for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Realizing what he has done and that he has reached a dead end, Dodik would gladly step back if he had interlocutors and if someone agreed to talk and negotiate with him.”

In this situation, no matter what he does, Dodik is in a bad position, which is why he and his followers are panicking. Why? Because his options are limited to three possibilities and scenarios:

  • If he decides to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he risks arrest and imprisonment.
  • If he chooses to flee the country, he could go to Serbia, where he has a vast fortune in real estate.
  • He could escape to Hungary or Russia.

However, he is not welcome in Serbia, as he has harshly insulted the youth – students of that country – and there, he will certainly not feel comfortable or be able to move freely. The citizens of Serbia will not forgive him for insulting their children, says the Vice President of the Naprijed! movement, adding:

“He is left with the escape to Hungary or Russia, but even there, he will not be at peace, secure, or calm. The reason is simple – Putin and his intelligence services do not forgive the failure to carry out the tasks and promises given to them, and Dodik has failed to fulfil his obligations. He will have to pay a high price to Putin for not fulfilling the tasks and commitments. How?

First, he could lose the money he deposited in Russian banks. Secondly, he might experience a ‘fall through the window,‘ as has happened to many of Putin’s opponents and disobedient individuals – there have been dozens of them in the past three years. It turns out that all these opponents and disobedient individuals of Putin were window washers who slipped and fell through the window,” says Hadžiahmetović.

He further emphasizes that Dodik is aware of all these dangers, which is why he is panicking, as he doesn’t know what to do – whatever he does will be bad for him.

“He is solely to blame for the situation he is in, and in such a situation, he is ready to sacrifice other people’s children and the entity of Republika Srpska just to save himself.”

Therefore, it is very important for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to remain calm and reasonable, not to fall for his threats and stories, and for the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina to do their job in order to preserve peace, security, and a better future for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dodik and his politics are, in any case, a thing of the past, concluded Hadžiahmetović.
