UK Foreign Office: Dodik remains under sanctions

As stated by the BH UK Network, the Government of the United Kingdom shares concerns over what they described as the irresponsible and unconstitutional activities of Republika Srpska entity President Milorad Dodik and the leadership of Republika Srpska, considering them a direct attack on the Dayton Peace Agreement.

“The United Kingdom, together with its American and European partners, remains firmly committed to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our goal is to strengthen the rule of law, stability, and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s progress on the Euro-Atlantic path,” stated the official response from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

The Bosnian and Herzegovinian diaspora in the United Kingdom had previously sent a series of letters to British parliamentarians and the government, expressing serious concerns over what they described as Dodik’s secessionist activities. The response from UK authorities, including multiple letters of support from MPs, has now been formalized and confirmed.

“Dodik remains under UK sanctions due to his previous attempts to undermine institutions. The best response to his rhetoric and actions is to continue working on concrete results that benefit all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while strengthening stability and democratic institutions,” the statement emphasized.

The BH UK Network thanked British institutions for their consistent and vocal support, particularly highlighting the UK’s commitment in international forums such as the UN Security Council and the OSCE.

“We particularly appreciate the clear and principled stance of the UK Government on preserving the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the organization stated.
