The president of HDZ BiH addressed journalists after a meeting with representatives of the Troika and the opposition in RS. Čović stated that the security of BiH citizens in all parts of the country is a priority.
“Today, we held constructive discussions with our partners and friends to reassure all citizens of BiH that they can sleep peacefully. Our goal is to find solutions to the political crisis through a partnership approach, with a clear stance that no one has the right to jeopardize the security of any part of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Čović said.
Čović confirmed that there will be changes to the BiH Election Law.
“On the agenda of the House of Peoples this Friday will be amendments to the Election Law concerning members of the Presidency and the Central Election Commission. This is a small but important step, as we have been discussing these issues for ten years. There will be more time for comprehensive changes,” Čović stated.
“The Bosniak people should retain the right to elect their representatives, but the same right must be granted to the Croatian people. For 16 years, Croats have not had the opportunity to elect their own member of the BiH Presidency – this is unacceptable and must change,” Čović emphasized.
He stressed the importance of carrying out work peacefully and addressing challenges through political dialogue.
“Communication with partners from the Bosniak people exists, but we conduct everything with respect and clearly established principles,” Čović added.
