Trump’s associate “poke” at Dodik: “Like Assad, he fled to Russia…”

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley, one of the most influential politicians of the Republican Party, criticized the President of the Republika Srpska entity, Milorad Dodik, for his trip to Russia. Grassley drew a parallel between Dodik and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, pointing out that, like Assad, Dodik sought refuge in Russia in search of safety.

“Like Assad in Syria, Dodik sought refuge in Russia. However, he will soon face justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina for his attempts to destabilize the country and prevent its European path,” Grassley wrote on social media.

This is not the first time that Grassley has sharply criticized Dodik. Earlier, he accused Dodik of pursuing a separatist agenda, which he called dangerous and destructive to the stability of the Balkans. Grassley emphasized that such attempts, like those in the 1990s, did not succeed for the separatists and he believes they will have no effect today either.

Dodik recently visited Moscow, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was their 26th meeting, and Dodik emphasized that Putin is well aware of the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and will advocate for the cessation of international institutions, including the Office of the High Representative. Dodik also reiterated his stance on the illegitimacy of international representatives in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As a reminder, Dodik is currently facing charges for attempting to undermine the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for which an international warrant has been issued against him. The Court of BiH has already submitted a request to Interpol to issue an international warrant.
