Chairman of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Saša Magazinović, and delegation member Sabina Ćudić held a meeting on 10th of April in Strasbourg with James MacCleary, a member of the UK Parliament and the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Europe.
The topic of discussion was the increased engagement of the United Kingdom in ensuring peace, stability, and the protection of the constitutional order in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The interlocutors agreed on the need for the deployment of British troops in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
MacCleary informed the interlocutors that he supports the initiative, emphasizing his commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He emphasized that this is a current topic, both in the UK Parliament and Government, and that he will continue to advocate for it in the coming days.
During the conversation, a joint condemnation was expressed of the attacks by Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik on the constitutional order and his threats to peace.
One of the topics of discussion was also the response of Western allies to the latest developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was noted that there is broad agreement on clearly identifying responsibility, and in that sense, Milorad Dodik is at the forefront. However, it has now become clear that, in the coming period, scrutiny will also fall on those who politically or otherwise follow, protect, and support him—whether directly or indirectly, it was stated at the meeting.
Ćudić and Magazinović expressed their gratitude for the UK’s engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina so far, emphasizing its consistency in positions and commitment to values which, as they pointed out, they have never been willing to abandon – according to the Public Relations Sector of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
