Spreading a little hate, a little love: Here’s what Dodik told the citizens of Republika Srpska on the occasion of Easter

The president of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity Republika Srpska and fugitive from the Bosnian judiciary, Milorad Dodik, made a statement this morning on X on the occasion of Easter.

He said that neither we nor our ancestors chose the time and circumstances in which we would live.

But we choose whether we will be human. We choose whether we will live in faith, harmony, unity, and love. And love, as the late Patriarch Pavle used to say, is the greatest virtue. Everything a person shares with others becomes less, except love. The more you give, the more you have. On this holiday of life, a holiday of forgiveness and hope, that is the message I want to send to every person in our nation, wrote Dodik.

He adds that every person is created as an individual, but that community is what makes us strong, resilient, and eternal.

Only societies that place individual freedom in the service of the common good remain free and successful. That’s why we should be a people who know how to nurture what has sustained us — faith, family, unity. And we should be worthy of those who taught us that the greatest values are not inherited, but earned. Our devotion to the Orthodox Church and commitment to religion have allowed us to survive and overcome all hardships. What is most precious is that which others try to take away from you — that is what is most guarded and defended. That is why our Orthodox faith, love, freedom, and Republika Srpska — we will not give up. Christ is risen, said Milorad Dodik.
