President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić stated today that Serbia and the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska are being attacked from outside and within, and now a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, has responded to his latest unfounded statements.
“I will not comment on the part of the statement by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, claiming that ‘Serbia is being attacked from outside and within,’ because that falls under the jurisdiction of the authorities of the neighboring Republic of Serbia. Their institutions should determine whether the country has been attacked, by whom, and how. We in Bosnia and Herzegovina will not interfere in the internal affairs of neighboring Serbia,” Bećirović stated.
However, he added that the statement by the President of Serbia claiming that “Republika Srpska is under attack” is unacceptable and very dangerous.
“This Bosnian and Herzegovinian entity is part of the independent, sovereign, and indivisible state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and no one has attacked it. There is not a single piece of evidence for such an irresponsible and inflammatory claim.
The issue of an attack on the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina or any part of it is precisely regulated by the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina. An attack on any part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in any form, is considered an attack on the entire country. That is why there are state institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina which have the capacity and legal authority to ensure the sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence, and international subjectivity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The interpretation of the laws of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina falls exclusively under the jurisdiction of its state authorities, and the President of Serbia has absolutely nothing to do with that. Therefore, he is completely unauthorized and unqualified to speak about any alleged attack on the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina or any part of it,” Bećirović emphasized.
He then added:
“Unfortunately, without any cause and contrary to both international and national law, the President of Serbia continues to aggressively interfere in the internal affairs of the independent, sovereign, and indivisible state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It would be good for the entire region if the President of Serbia focused on the internal issues of the country he represents, rather than trying to divert attention from the problems in his own country by provoking crises in other states,” concluded Denis Bećirović, member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
