Transporters threaten blockade: Nikšić is ignoring us, we’re preparing a French-style protest

The Logistics Consortium of BiH, which brings together all transporters from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider Western Balkans region, has sent a letter to FBiH Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, accusing him of having ignored all their warnings and demands so far.

They state that, due to institutional silence and a lack of dialogue, the transporters will organize protests on June 16, which, they warn, will negatively affect the functioning of supply chains throughout the entire country.

“We are not asking for privileges—we are asking for dialogue, legal certainty, and respect for fiscal justice. We demand the following:

  • That fuel excise duty refunds be enabled, as has already been done in Republika Srpska;
  • That export-oriented companies in the transport sector receive the status they deserve—since 90% of their revenue comes from the EU;
  • That the practice of parallel interpretations of laws in different cantons of the Federation of BiH be ended;
  • That structural fiscal reforms finally begin, which would enable sustainable operations and employment,” the letter states.

They emphasized that Nikšić has rejected all previous requests and meetings, and has not taken a position on any of the proposed reforms.

“If you refuse dialogue – you are choosing blockade. If you do not respond to this letter either, the public needs to know that you bear direct responsibility for the protest on June 16, 2025. That the protest declaration will state: ‘Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić forced us into the French model (total blockade – ed.).’ That the citizens of the Federation, instead of normal supply, will be able to thank the one who missed the last chance to resolve the issue – peacefully, responsibly, and institutionally,” the Consortium stated.
