Montenegro Strengthens Ties with Slovakia to Advance European Integration and Economic Cooperation

The process of European integration remains the main strategic priority for the Government of Montenegro, not only because of its economic importance but primarily due to the vision and values embodied by the European Union (EU), said Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development, Nik Đeljošaj.

Đeljošaj met today with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Slovakia, Denisa Saková, who is visiting Montenegro. Saková acknowledged the Montenegrin Government’s commitment to the European integration process and reforms, assuring that Montenegro can count on Slovakia’s support.

He emphasized that economic cooperation between Montenegro and Slovakia is excellent.

“For the Government of Montenegro, the process of European integration remains a top strategic priority not just because of the economic significance but above all because of the vision and values that the European Union represents,” said Đeljošaj.

Saková highlighted the Montenegrin Government’s dedication to integration and reform and confirmed Slovakia’s continued support.

During the meeting, they discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation in various economic sectors such as green energy, infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, and others.

At the end of the meeting, both sides praised the good relations between Montenegro and Slovakia and agreed to maintain communication and intensify cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

This meeting highlights how deeply Montenegro values its path toward European integration not just as an economic goal, but as a commitment to shared democratic values and sustainable development.

The strong support from Slovakia shows that regional partnerships remain crucial in this journey, especially when it comes to sectors like green energy and infrastructure that can drive long-term growth. It’s encouraging to see Montenegro actively building these bridges, reinforcing that European integration.
