The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, held a meeting with his Spanish counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares.
The discussion took place in a friendly atmosphere, with an emphasis on the long-standing bilateral ties between the two countries and their shared commitment to strengthening mutual relations.
During the meeting, Minister Konaković highlighted the strong, friendly, and continuous relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Spain, emphasizing the importance of this alliance at a time when Bosnia and Herzegovina is making efforts toward European Union membership.
On the other hand, Minister Albares expressed Spain’s firm support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European perspective and the EU enlargement policy.
Both ministers agreed that the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the rest of the Western Balkans is of strategic importance for lasting stability and security in Europe. Spain, Albares stated, remains committed to contributing to this process through diplomatic support, political cooperation, and concrete initiatives at the EU level.
Minister Albares also emphasized his country’s principled position regarding the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Spain strongly supports the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitutional order of BiH, and “unequivocally condemns all forms of secessionism and divisive rhetoric.”
