The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, officially received the Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, U.S. Brigadier General Matthew Valas.
Helez and Valas discussed the current political and security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and exchanged views on the possibilities for the international community to take more decisive action in resolving the crisis in our country.
“OHR, EUFOR, NATO, and the Delegation of the European Union in BiH must take more concrete steps to resolve the crisis in our country, caused by the illegal and unconstitutional actions of the representatives of the authorities of the BiH entity Republika Srpska,” Helez stated.
He informed Valas about the activities of the Ministry of Defense of BiH regarding the adoption of the BiH Reform Program for 2025. The obligations of the Ministry of Defense of BiH in the preparation of the 2025 Reform Program will soon be completed, and that part of the document will be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH within the next 15 days.
During the meeting, Helez and Valas discussed the recent visit to the Pentagon in the United States. The visit was assessed as productive, and it was emphasized that it will contribute to further strengthening the Armed Forces of BiH and improving the overall relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States.
