The complete remains of two victims of the past war were exhumed today at the Grahovci site in the municipality of Kiseljak. This information was confirmed by the Missing Persons Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to available information, it is believed that the remains may belong to victims of Bosniak nationality who went missing in this area in 1993.
The human remains were recently discovered by citizens who were conducting excavation work at the site. They immediately notified the police and the Institute for Missing Persons about the case. Once the expert team arrived on site, it was confirmed that the remains were human, and the procedure was promptly initiated with the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina to obtain an exhumation order as quickly as possible, they stated.
The victims’ remains will be transferred to the mortuary at the “Prahulje” cemetery in Travnik, where they will undergo criminal-technical and forensic medical processing, including the collection of bone samples for the purpose of identifying the victims through DNA analysis.
The exhumation was carried out under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, in accordance with an order from the Court of BiH. Present at the site were an investigator from the Institute, a pathologist, anthropologists from the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), workers and machinery, as well as local police who secured the exhumation site.
