A police officer was killed and a second one was wounded in a town in western Bosnia-Herzegovina, authorities reported, in what the Bosnia and Herzegovina Interior Ministry called “an act of terrorism“.
The attack led by a teenager at a police station in Bosanska Krupa, a town with a population of 14 000 people in late October, has not addressed prior threats to local police officers or against the authorities, so the event could not have been known prior by the authorities.
The identity of the suspect, were kept secret by the authorities because of his age and because they could not confirm if the person was a religious extremist. They gave no further information because the investigation is still ongoing.
The Police have commenced searches in the suspect`s home and some items had been taken in connection with the probe. His motives remain unknown for the moment.
The penalty for murder in Bosnia and Herzegovina ranges from 10 years to prison up to life, but as the suspect is a minor, he may only be sent to reformatory for a five-year period, if he is found guilty.
