A group of Palestinian prisoners released today from Israeli prisons arrived by bus in the city of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip. The freed prisoners were taken directly to the European Hospital in Khan Younis for medical examinations.
According to data from the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office, one of the prisoners, Nader Jamal Hussein from the Jabalia refugee camp, was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
This latest exchange is part of the prisoner release under the ceasefire agreement. Israel is scheduled to release a total of 369 Palestinians on Saturday, including 36 individuals who were serving life sentences. Earlier on Saturday, Palestinian groups released three Israeli captives in the eastern city of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza.
The ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in Gaza has been in effect since January 19, suspending Israel’s genocidal war, which has killed more than 48,200 people, mostly women and children, and left the Palestinian enclave in ruins.
The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November last year for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel is also facing a genocide lawsuit at the International Court of Justice over its war in the enclave, Anadolu reports.
