The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, and Saraya Al-Quds, the armed faction of Islamic Jihad, handed over three Israeli prisoners on Saturday as part of a prisoner exchange agreement with Israel.
The transfer of Alexander Turbanov, Sagui Dekel-Chen, and Yair Horn to the International Committee of the Red Cross took place east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, according to an Anadolu correspondent.
Palestinian groups also gave one of the three Israeli hostages an hourglass with the inscription “Time is running out” in three languages, intended for the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the correspondent added.
To remind, the exchange is part of the first phase of a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel. On Saturday, Israel is expected to release 369 Palestinian detainees as part of the agreement.
The ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in the Gaza Strip has been in effect since January 19, suspending the Israeli genocidal war in which more than 48,200 people, mostly women and children, have been killed, and the Palestinian enclave has remained in ruins.
The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November of last year for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel is also facing a genocide lawsuit before the International Court of Justice for its war in the enclave.
